James T. Fenner, Jr.
James T. Fenner, Jr., percussion, was born and raised in East Orange, New Jersey and attended Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. His musical ability is a God-given gift. His passion and love for congas and percussion instruments began at the age of 13. From the late 1970s until the early 1980's, he performed in sold-out stadium and arena concert tours throughout the world with platinum-selling recording artist Christopher Cross. In addition to live performances, he is highly sought as a studio musician and is heard on many Austin recordings, including the Grammy Award-winning CD "Ah Via Musicom" by Eric Johnson. On December 16, 2002, he performed a private concert in the White House in Washington DC for administration officials with guitarist Tony Morris and Friends. He has also performed with Epitaph, James Polk/Passenger, Chester Baldwin and Music Mass 3. James currently participates in freelance writing projects and recording sessions with local groups. He is Percussionist for the Music Ministry at the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. James has been married for 22 years and is the father of two sons (Jerome & Jahmal) and two daughters (Nikki & Jamayla). He is also known as "Grampi" to his grandchildren: Campbell, Lexus and Chance.
