December 3, 2005, marked the third appearance by Tony Morris & Friends at the White House in Washington, D.C. Austin classical guitarist Tony Morris was joined by flutist Renata Green, violinist Jennifer Bourianoff, and percussionist James Fenner in a private performance for the Diplomatic Corps of the State Department as part of the White House Holiday celebrations there. The program featured seasonal music and Baroque music, with works by Telemann and Isabella Leonarda.



The ensemble was first invited there in 2002 to perform for White House staff and administration officials, following their public television concert taping at the Texas Governor's Mansion. Their second White House performance in 2004 was for members of the Senate. That program featured holiday music as well as the world premiere performances of solo guitar pieces, including the newly-discovered "Gitare", by the late French Les Six composer Germaine Tailleferre, "Midnight," by Danish guitarist Kaare Norge, and "Sarabande," by Russell Sarre.

October 1, 2005, 7:00pm: Tony Morris & Friends, (with flutist Renata Green, violinist Jennifer Bourianoff, and special guest percussionist James Fenner) perform a fundraiser concert benefiting the Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve, at the estate of video game developer/entrepreneur Richard Garriott. The group performs on Richard's 3/4 scale replica of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. Tickets are $100. For more information, please visit: www.staustin.org

Monday, June 20, and Tuesday, June 21 at 7:30pm at the Laguna Gloria Art Museum, 3809 West 35th street in Austin, TX: Viva Trio share a concert with Salon Concerts and the Austin Classical Guitar Society. Viva Trio performs, followed by Tony Morris performing with the Salon Concert String Quartet in Boccherini's "Grave/Fandango", from the Guitar Quintet #4 in D major. The concert continues with the Salon Concert String Quartet with guitarist Steve Kostelnic in Guastavino's Jeromita Linares, and a premiere of a new work for guitar and string quartet by Russell Sarre. Tony Morris & Friends Encore Performance at the White House
Guitarist and public radio host Tony Morris returned for a second performance at the White House in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, December 7, 2004 with guest musicians including flutist Renata Green, violinist Jennifer Bourianoff and percussionist James Fenner. The private performance was part of the annual holiday celebrations at the White House and was attended by members of Congress and their families, White House staff, and administration officials. The program included a variety of solo and chamber music with guitar, including works by Telemann, Piazzolla, holiday music, and more. The program also included the World Premiere performance of a recently-discovered work for solo guitar titled "Guitare" by the famous "Les Six" French composer Germaine Tailleferre (1892-1983). Two solo guitar works dedicated to Tony Morris by living composers were also premiered: "Midnight" by Denmark's leading guitarist/composer, Kaare Norge, and "Sarabande", by Australian composer, Dr. Russell Saare.

Tony Morris, who hosts the internationally-broadcast public radio program "Classical Guitar Alive!" first performed at the White House in 2002 with flutist Renata Green, percussionist James Fenner, and cellist Shu-Yi Scott in a private performance attended by White House staff and administration officials, including Dr. Eileen Mason, Acting Director of the National Endowment for the Arts.
