June 6, 2012 "Eliot Fisk, JoAnn Falletta Interviews"
<Listen To Preview>

This week's program features interviews with American virtuoso & Segovia protege Eliot Fisk and one of America's leading conductors and guitarist JoAnn Falletta.

The program begins with Brazil's Quarternaglia Guitar Quartet performing Sergio Molina's "Sweet Mineira", based on movie themes by Milton Nascimento.

In candid interview, Eliot Fisk laments how the present-day quest for perfect performances has led to a lack of spontaneity and boring concerts.

Buffalo Philharmonic conductor JoAnn Falletta relates the expressions of surprise by others upon learning that she is a guitarist. Maestro Falletta discusses how being a classical guitarist shaped her approach to conducting.

The program concludes with Brazilian composer Paulo Bellinati's rhythmic "Lun-Duos", performed by fellow Brazilian musicians, Quaternaglia.
